Este es el ultimo post de Katatonia por el momento. "December Songs", es un tributo a la magnifica banda que consta de 2 partes, realizadas por bandas de diversas nacionalidades y estilos musicales, entre ellos podemos destacar a Foscor. (Oscuridad en lenguaje Catalán)
banda cercana a mi tierra, quienes dan inicio al álbum, estos practican Dark/Black metal, pero se amoldan perfectamente al estilo inicial de los suecos, así como lo hacen las demás bandas que pasan por estilos comprometidos entre el Black, Death/Doom y Gothic. Destacables también son: Beatrik, Xasthur, Forgotten Tomb o October Falls.

This is the last post of Katatonia for the moment. "December Songs", it's a tribute to that magnific band that consists of 2 parts, made by bands of diverses nationalities and musical styles, among them we can emphasize Foscor. (Darkness in Catalan language) band from near my country, who give beginning to the album, those practice Dark/Black metal, but they are conformed perfectly to the initial style of the Swedish, as well as they make the other bands that happen through styles between the Black, Death/Doom and Gothic. Remarkable also they are: Beatrik, Xasthur, Forgotten Tomb or October Falls.

Charles Baudelaire

Charles Pierre Baudelaire, poeta, crítico y traductor francés (9 de abril de 1821 - † 31 de agosto de 1867). Fue llamado poeta maldito ("le poète maudit"), debido a su vida de bohemia y excesos y a la visión del mal que impregna su obra. Barbey d'Aurevilly, periodista francés, dijo de él que fue el Dante francés de una época decadente. Las influencias más importantes sobre él fueron el poeta de mayor impacto en el SimbolismoThéophile Gautier, Joseph de Maistre (de quien dijo que le había enseñado a pensar) y, en particular, Edgar Allan Poe, a quien tradujo extensamente.
C.Baudelaire fue y es uno de los poetas malditos más leídos y aclamados ...su vida llena de excesos (de entre estos hace falta hablar de su habito a frecuentar burdeles de prostitucion, experimentar con opiáceos, hachis, vino y absenta, entre otros...). Excesos también de romanticismo autodestructivo y de pesadillas bohémicas le hicieron ganar ese titulo, que aunque erosionado por el paso del tiempo, siempre restara entre nosotros como eterno legado.

Este fue el segundo larga duración de la banda Katatonia, y el que marcaría el final de su carrera como banda de Death/Doom Metal. En este álbum fue pieza clave la participación de Mikael Åkerfeldt , quien doto de voces (y que voces...) el 90% del álbum, el otro 10% correría por la cuenta de Jonas Renkse, pero este solo haría las voces limpias además de pasar a tocar la batería...hay quien dice que después del anteriormente posteado "Dance of December Souls", Jonas Renkse perdió todo interés en el Death/Doom Metal, y quiso orientar la banda a un sonido mas de Rock Depresivo, y a su vez Mikael Åkerfeldt, se puso a trabajar duro con la que sería la banda que marcaría su carrera y nuestras vidas para siempre "Opeth". Sea cual fuese la razón, el hecho es que aún nos dejaron como legado este magnifico Brave Murder Day.

This was the second Full-length of the band: Katatonia , and the one that would mark the end of its race like band of Death/Doom Metal. In this album the participation of Mikael Åkerfeldt was a key, who equip with voices (and what voices...) the 90% of the album, the other 10% runs by the account of Jonas Renkse, but this single one would make the voices clean besides happen to touch the battery... there are someones that says that after the previously uploaded "Dance of December Souls", Jonas Renkse lost all interest in the Death/Doom Metal, and wanted to orient the band to a sound like Depressive Rock, and as well Mikael Åkerfeldt, was put to work hard with which it would be the band that would always mark its race and our lives "Opeth". Be as it was the reason, the fact is that still us they left bequeathed as this magnify Brave Murder Day.

Tanto el álbum como la banda no necesitan mucha introducción, se trata del primer larga duración de Katatonia banda que algún día fue gran exponente del Death/Doom Metal, e influencia para muchas otras bandas que usarían este genero tiempo después...de hecho Dance of December Souls es considerado un icono de ese genero y el que a nivel personal me introdujo en el, mostrándome la belleza que puede ofrecer el genero en cuestión. Este álbum transcurre con magníficos pegadizos riffs procedentes de las melancólicas y pesadas guitarras de Blackheim , por otra parte Jonas Renske hace una labor brillante en la vocalización del álbum, dotándole de un sonido desesperado y un tanto depresivo, con tonos casi black, que nunca mas se volverían a ver en esta banda.

As much the album as the band does not need much introduction, this is the first full-length of Katatonia, band who someday was great exponent of the Death/Doom Metal, and a great influence for many other bands that would use it in a time later... in fact Dances of December Souls is considered an icon of that genere and the one that at personal level introduced to me in, showing me the beauty which it can offer this genere at issue. This album passes with magnificent catchy riffs coming from the melancholic and deep guitars of Blackheim, on the other way Jonas Renske does a real good work in the vocalization of the album, equipping to him with a desperate and somewhat depressive sound, with tones almost black, that never would become to see in this band.
